This October, AKI Bondi Beach Dojo will proudly host a visit by Takeda Daiyu Sensei, one of AKI's most gifted and inspiring young teachers! This is Daiyu Sensei's first visit to Australia in 7 years, during which he'll be leading a 2-day gasshuku. 29/8/06
Seventeen Aikidoka returned to the Blue Mountains for two very full days of keiko, laughter, play, communal meals, sunshine, bushwalks, crackling log fires, sushi, sake and not a whole lot of sleep! 24-25/6/06
Having tired of sand in the face while training on the beach, unyielding concrete slabs outside the pavilion, and freak 6am wind and rainstorms, we went in search of the ideal venue for early morning training and found it! 30/5/06
In January 2006, Takeda Shihan was promoted to 8th dan by Ueshiba Doshu in recognition in recognition of his life-long efforts towards developing and spreading the art of Aikido. An international celebration held in Kamakura was attended by Aikidoka from all over the world. 21/3/06
After stumbling across an amazing photo of Takeda Shihan, I booked a ticket on the spur of the moment and spent 2 incredible weeks in Japan climbing mountains, having adventures and training like a maniac with hair on fire! 22/10/05-6/11/05
The first-ever AKI Bondi Beach Dojo gasshuku was held over two days in an idyllic bushland setting in the Blue Mountains. As well as plenty of training, participants enjoyed bushwalks, log fires and a surprise bithday party at 5am! 18-19/6/05
Thirty Australian Aikidoka travelled to Japan to celebrate with Takeda Shihan the 25th anniversary of his first visit to Australia. Special events included an enbukai with Aikido Doshu Ueshiba Moriteru, a visit to the Aiki Shrine and a gasshuku in Kamakura city. 1-23/5/05
