The wait is finally over: Yasumitsu Kadoya Sensei returns to Australia this August!

Published on 29 Mar, 2014

It gives us immense pleasure to announce the long-awaited return of Yasumitsu Kadoya Sensei (AKI Japan, 6th dan)! It’s been 20 years since his last visit down under and this winter, we’re incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to study with him once again here in Australia.

Kadoya Sensei is chief instructor of the Shonai Aikidokai in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan, and is regarded as one of the greatest masters Takeda Shihan and AKI have ever produced. He made many visits to Australia in the 1980s and early 90s, and inspired whole generations of students with the fluidity, spontaneity, and overwhelming warmth and softness of his Aikido. He is a master of space and time, completely free and at peace in movement and the moment. His ability to meet and connect with his partners so perfectly and seamlessly, and without force, makes it an absolute joy and wonder to train with him. ‘Kindness’ and ‘purifying one’s heart’ are central themes of his teachings, which he embodies so beautifully, both on and off the mat.

Students of all levels are warmly invited to join us in Sydney this August for an incredibly inspiring and uplifting weekend with this most remarkable teacher! Our beautiful city and the surrounding coasts and mountains abound with sightseeing opportunities for interstate and international guests. For safety and comfort, spaces on the mat will be limited to 40 students so please register your interest early. We look forward to welcoming you in Sydney, Australia, this winter!
